During an oral assessment, the hygienist (or dentist) will clean your teeth and check for cavities or other gum disease. The assessment will include evaluating your risk of developing other oral problems and checking soft tissue in your mouth (cheek and tongues), neck, face for abnormalities. The exam involves a visual inspection as well as taking detailed imaging of your mouth, which are later examined for any abnormalities and diseases. 

Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps in building strong and healthy teeth as well as to prevent cavities.  A cavity occurs when there is decay in the tooth. Decay can affect the outer layer of a tooth (enamel) and the inner (dentin)

From an oral health prospective, it  is an essential treatment and has been for decades. Specifically, Fluoride supports healthy tooth enamel (the outer protective layer of each tooth) and fights the bacteria that harm teeth and gums.
